Education Qualification

    • PhD in cell biology, biochemistry, or related disciplines.
    • Evidence of generating publication-quality data.
    • Good interpersonal skills with clear communication abilities.
    • Prior experience in mouse genetics and working with embryos (beneficial).
    • Expertise in high-content imaging and image analysis (valuable).

Key Areas of Responsibility

    • To work with the line manager to decide direction of project
    • To identify, establish and apply scientific techniques to meet the research aims of the project.
    • To design, implement, and interpret experiments.
    • To contribute conceptually to other projects running in the lab.
    • To contribute to the organization and smooth running of the lab.
    • To assist in the training of PhD Students and other members of the laboratory.
    • To present scientific work at laboratory meetings, seminars within the Institute and at external meetings and conferences.
    • To contribute to the overall preparation of research for publication.

Job Description

Postdoctoral Research Scientist (Epigenetics & Signalling)

The successful candidate will:

    • Drive research on molecular and metabolic mechanisms controlling developmental timing.
    • Focus on studying tempo in mammalian pre-implantation development using mouse embryos and stem cell models.
    • Assist in training graduate students and collaborate on lab activities.
    • Benefit from the Institute’s expertise, facilities, and existing collaborations.
    • Conduct quantitative imaging approaches.
    • Help maintain the lab’s high scientific standards.

The employment

This employment is a temporary contract of two years. The employment is full-time.

Salary

The starting salary is £36,100 per annum, rising to £43,105 per annum based on experience. Funding for this position is available for two years initially. Applicants must hold a PhD or have their thesis submitted when commencing the post. Please note that you will be appointed on the starting salary of £33,500 per annum, if you have not yet been awarded your PhD.
